The Emergency Novena Chaplet
When I was graduating from college in 2014, I had to take a teaching exam for graduate school. I took the test twice: on the first round, I failed by 40 points. For next time around, I decided to study a little harder and pray a little more. That doesn't hurt, right?
On the way to the exam, I prayed an Emergency Novena. Surprisingly enough, I got all the same questions from the previous test! This never really happens. I still failed the test, but this time by just 5 points! It all worked out the way it should, and I am not a teacher. I do, however, like to credit that minor miracle to Mother Teresa and her Emergency Novena.
So what is an Emergency Novena? Well, it perfect for when you don't have time to pray a full novena, which is nine days of daily prayer. You, instead, state your intention at the start, then pray nine Memorares in petition and one in thanksgiving. It is said that Mother Teresa was inundated with prayer requests, and she wanted she wanted to send them up quickly to Our Lady. Her solution was this Emergency Novena.
Memorare:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petition, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen.
St Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us.
